Round up will kill where it hits, but not the tree (use sound judgment ). Keep it black all around the trees (no weeds ). I was 13 in 1988, dad decided to plant a new grove. Colorado's here seem to be a bit more "finicky". They will cost more, but weve had much better success with the pots than bare root evergreens. Try planting the smallest available that comes in a pot. Yes Feeder Tabor Mn is very Czech as I am half Czech from Mom. The hole i'm digging probably 12-14 inches deep and 16-18 inches around, dig it, put some loose soil back in, water with muracid fertilizer, tree, sand or dirt then pull tree up a little to straighten out roots then pack gently and a little more water-muracid, thats it. I would tell you what I "think" you should do, but I see you don't give a damn. I spend alot of time lookin after these dang things. The sand only in the hole seems to be the highest success but sure would like to do better. Usually after I plant them they put on new growth but then in mid June new growth wilts no matter how much water then dries up. I'v tried filling the hole with sand, tried black dirt only, a mixture of the two, iron filings, always use a muracid fertilizer, abundant water. I guess spruce trees arent a crop up in my neck of the woods but was wondering if any body has anymore tricks to get colorado blue spruce and black hills spruce growing better in our heavier RRV soils? I've been planting bare root trees (12 to 20 inches ) from the local NRCS and been having about a 60% success rate. Spruce trees Jump to page : 1 Now viewing page 1
